Thank you, Julie, for sharing more information on this serious issue in Burlington. Glad that it was pointed out that contract negotiations don’t always mean benefit increases, in the negotiations there are sometimes concessions made by long-term workers for the newer employees. And to Loretta’s point - most people assume that being a union member is a gravy train where you feed at the same trough. Might’ve been the case years ago, but this certainly proves it is no longer that way.

I went to high school and learned the basics to enter the workforce. Those skills have stood me in good stead all these years. I was fortunate to end up in the field of being a medical transcriptionist. And our industry has also changed dramatically. Some medical transcriptionist with years of experience and knowledge and working in the trenches hoping to ensure correct patient records and safe health Care are making less money than those who are at McDonald's saying would you like fries with that. Now I am not putting down anyone who works in fast food or any other industry. But when you make less money after years of experience and knowledge and training and sometimes barely above minimum wage there is something seriously wrong. And since many medical facilities have long ago outsourced most of their transcription and we are all working remotely it is almost impossible to have any Union to protect us. L. Quinnett

A lot of people aren't pro Union anymore but they take for granted the fact that we have health insurance and jobs or that we have paid time off or that we have pensions or that we have any safeguards at all or that we have paid holidays and vacations and dental insurance. But they have been whittling away at all the benefits the unions won through all those hard-earned efforts. Gentleman in the video is correct not everyone goes to college or has to go to college. Everyone has a different gift. But if you're a good hard worker you deserve to have a living wage that you can support yourself and your family and still have some time actually to be with your family. L Quinnett

The dignity of everyone who works hard in the country should be recognized and rewarded. I think one of the worst things that has happened to our country in the last 50 years has been the hollowing out of the middle class. I hope the voices of these people are heard and honored with a serious conversation about their worries for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Thanks, Kathi. And the connection between a prosperous town, good education, thriving local businesses or a lack thereof is connected to corporate greed.

In these times, it all comes back to corporate greed, doesn't it?

It sad when after 4 years at CNH Industrial,I been working at other places while on strike , making more money working for a temp service doing lite assembly work , easiest work I have ever done , friends have asked me why do I want to go back to CNH then , the temp work gives me more vacation days , personal days and few more holidays too but the work is so easy that I don’t feel the pride as I did at my job with CNH , when you work hard / sweat your giving your self you know that not anyone can do this work, watching the tractor it self driving off the line , it just feels awesome , but when you get kicked in the gut by the company hiring scabs to try to do our jobs, paying them what we are asking for, trying so hard not to work with the employees that made CNH what it is today , is just so so sad ! ! !

I went to college but did not make a "good" living. I sympathize with the strikers.
