Julie, I watched a short documentary that is a nominee for an Academy Award: The ABCs of Book Banning. Libraries continue to be a battleground in the culture wars.
Although these bills are dead in theory, language about libraries could be added to another bill later as an amendment. The property tax bill that passed last year affected the library levy, for instance.
Unfortunately I need to cover a legislative subcommittee at noon today but I would like to know why library groups didn't mobilize and lobby against part of last year's property tax bill. They were so well-organized in response to this year's legislation.
