Great post, Julie! I love that you named her Daisy. My first love was a blue 1974 Beetle, who I named Garfunkel...

I came across your post after researching the VW ID Buzz. I'm currently working on a research design study on minivans & we are specifically looking to hear from Buzz owners—but specifically in the Chicagoland area. I've noted you're in Iowa, but wondering if you have any tips on good VW Buzz sites/forums I should know about to help spread the word?

Fun story. I am a car guy having owned probably nearly 100 vehicles. Never had a VW van, though. Not enough power for my lead foot. So glad you were able to nab this rig. Happy Trails.

You'd find this van powerful enough, me thinks.

I, too, was wondering when VW would EVER introduce the ID BUZZ to America (a shorter wheelbase model has been selling in Europe since forever.)

The ID BUZZ is a bit big for my wife and I, and I’d love it if VW would sell the ID 3 here, which is the same size as our GTI. But sedans and hatchbacks sell about as well as rotten eggs here. {Sigh.}

Silly me, I thought you were kidding when you sent the picture of a new yellow VW van and talked about a possible new adventure. Good for you, sister dear!!!! Awesome. Really looks fun.

one of my first methods of making some extra money was repairing and fixing up old pre-1967 VW buses.

Julie, you have generated fond memories of the first car I purchased on my own--an orange VW Bug. So happy you have recaptured the spirit of those times in your new VW!

Ah, I had an orange bug way, way back in the day!

You made me feel nostalgic for a van I never owned--and made me want to buy a new one. A lovely piece, Julie. I look forward to meeting Daisy in 2025.

I definitely need a place for my purse! And after my surgery, I could use a back massage.

Have fun! 💚

First, welcome (back) to #vanlife. Second, check out my songs with The Nadas “Come Along for the Ride” and “Daisy”. Third, fun read this morning as I prepare to drive my van almost 1000 miles home from a house concert I played in Georgia last night. Thank you for the share.

When I locate the circa 1968 photo (unfortunately B&W) of me standing beside my VW bug with the pink-and-orange Flower Power stickers I artfully applied to, I'll scan and send. The stickers helped me find my vehicle in the huge parking lots of the University of Houston. Those were the days, yes.

Reminds me of Willsbury and Jacie! Love that song too! Good luck with Daisy!

Me too. The tape of that song was in the car Rod Cameron was in when he died coming back to DSM from visiting Jacie in Mankato. Imagine how it felt to have THAT relatively obscure song come on the air.
