I agree! DeJear is an exciting candidate. Heard her speak three times and am always inspired and hopeful after hearing her. She can win. She IS the real deal.

Richard and Julie, your reflections about Diedre match the impression Larry and I had when we left the event last Wednesday evening. Diedre is intelligent, thoughtful, and genuine. When the evening was over I told her that I loved the way she thinks and I love the way she speaks from her heart. Larry was impressed with the way she talked about republicans. In that arena she could have taken a shot at the Republican Party and would likely have been cheered. But she did not do that. Instead she talked about how she has always reached out to republicans to start a conversation. She said we have so much common ground to explore together. She sounds like a leader to me!

Two weeks ago we were blessed to have the DeJear campaign join us at our PUTTING PEOPLE FIRST family picnic in Decorah. 250 people (we served meals) packed into and around Whalen cabin in Phelps Park on a Sunday afternoon to hear Deidre, Mike Franken, and Liz Mathis. People CHEERED for DeJear during her comments.

HERE IS WHAT SHE DID THAT I THOUGHT YOU MIGHT APPRECIATE:

She brought all these elected and candidate Dems to the forefront and talked about "our team" and how they stepped up to the challenge of "serving the public good" as well as the sacrifices to run campaigns. Seeing "our team" together reminded me much of the political gatherings I grew up with. She challenged the audience to step up for them with our support. Then, she worked the crowd and went behind the servers table (buffet picnic lunch) to thank the workers. Indeed, the real deal! Personally, I got goosebumps twice during her remarks that afternoon. I'm "impressed" with certain candidates from time to time (Mike Franken is one in the current cycle) but rarely do I get goosebumps.

I've talked with Deidre three times now since she became involved in Iowa politics. SHE IS THE REAL DEAL! I'm telling everyone to REMEMBER: IOWA HAS A LONG HISTORY OF FIRSTS, WE CAN AGAIN! Your piece will become part of that dialogue.

I met Kyrsten Sinema 12 years ago when she was a state senator in Arizona. I thought she was the rising star of the Democratic Party.
