Sarah and her friend did a great job with Beau's Beautiful Blessings. The Iowa Democratic Party is a shambles, was virtually wiped out in the 2022 election, and has shut out some good candidates before up here because they can't see outside Des Moines and Iowa City if someone doesn't have cash up front. If you have a patron in Des Moines, it helps. Sarah has to get her name out there more. But apparently unbeknownst to Golden Circle Dems, this district is more purple than red. For example, Black Hawk County's representation to Des Moines is all Democrat except for a little sliver in the northwest corner and Linn County's statehouse representation is mostly that way. And Decorah/Winneshiek County -- Rob Sand country -- is like a little Iowa City. If you look over the past 30-40 years the Northeast Iowa congressional seat has flipped back and forth between the parties through various reapportionments. I did not know Sarah's Minnesota roots and that probably gives her some cause for optimism. It's a little hard to believe folks think that differently on either side of the Minnesota-Iowa state line. From this discussion, it sounds like Sarah has a pretty good read on that and the emotional stamina to carry on a campaign, tune out the peripheral nastiness and bear down. Whatever the outcome, she's going to give it her best. Her personal story is compelling and one can't help but wish her well in life going forward. And she has one heckuva good campaign advisor in Miriam Tyson.
I can't vote for her, but I did meet her once in Cedar Rapids. Very likeable, big smile, and now that I have heard her speak, I really believe she is a threat to Hinson! One of the things even local Republicans in the Iowa House and Senate do, is not communicate with anyone other than those who support them. To me it constitutes preaching to the choir! That closed circle allows people like our senior senator to easily visit all 99 counties and never speak to anyone who doesn't agree with him! Sarah has the guts to move past that, good for her! I'm rooting for her and even though she is outside my district, she is very likely to get a few bucks out of me just because she is who she is!
Medicaid would step in to pay for Breat Cancer Treatment if the patient is not eligible for Medicare. I appreciate your right to promote your candidate. I looked for some of her platforms. Would you mind sending readers a link? Thank you.
As someone who also faced those dreaded words: breast cancer, I truly appreciate Sarah’s activism! And her candidacy is inspiring!!! Did I miss a link to the transcript?
