I take it that you will be writing about these potlucks if and when and where you are able to attend. I bet it will make for some very interesting reading!!!!
Julie- I just saw the Iowa's 5 best tenderloins of 2022 have been announced.in the DMR - seems to me you could make the trips a ‘two-fer’. Listening to local folks while evaluating the pleasures of the breaded pork T .
Excellent idea. I found that people love to talk about themselves and appreciate it when someone is willing to listen. It's amazing what a person can learn by listening. Looking forward to reading about your experiences
I love your idea of going out and talking with the people who want to make a difference in their communities. I believe that local politics and participation is so important as it impacts our day to day lives, as much or more than state and national government.
If you would ever be interested in speaking at a Lion's club, and talking with the members there, I believe I could make that happen.
I couldn't agree with you more concerning the lack of local news coverage in Boone! I am an editor emeritus for Successful Farming magazine/now DotDash Meredith. I live in rural Boone County, but I am not sure that I am connected closely enough to the city of Boone to meet the needs of that
Could I write a weekly column about Boone County? Not sure. I wrote a monthly column for about 36 years. But it was national, and I could focus on a wide range of topics.
I am NW of Boone, 10 miles straight north of Ogden. I could go to Boone twice tomorrow. My vehicle is in the shop, but I could drive the pick-up. It wouldn't be difficult to manage this tomorrow!
Hope you find a correspondent. In a previous life, part of my job was to read every Iowa daily and a good selection of hundreds of weeklies. There was a large and lively community of journalists in Iowa! And now .when they're missing in acton we find we couldn't need them more. As the Joni Mitchell song goes, you never know what you've got till it's gone.
Me! Me! I live in DeWitt, a rural AND progressive community with lots of spirit and lots to nurture the mind and the soul. We have several venues, but the most stereotypical is Sunrise Cafe. But there's also Urban Eats. Your choice!
Plan B. Can we meet at the local pub? That way it can be in person with my awesome friends, after work, before dark. If you need lodging, I have a nice suite at my house. Many campaign workers have stayed there in the past.
Burlington is my area…want any leads? I know (as you might imagine) lots of people from lots of areas. Great idea !
Sorry I missed you this trip, Mary
Next time. Looking for your Tesla column…help?
