P.S. I still believe there is more good than evil in the world, but the evil gets a lot more news coverage. Thanks for doing your part Julie in keeping us all informed and up to date.
I loved your piece on Mike Franken. I've been for him ever since the beginning and I voted early in downtown Des Moines this past Monday. I voted for him and am praying very hard that he FINALLY gets Grassley OUT. I agree wholeheartedly that none of these public political offices should become lifelong careers. There should be term limits at every level just as there is for the President. I believe in him every step of the way. And I thank you Julie so much for following along on this and keeping us all in the loop. L, Quinnett
This is excellent. Wishing I could share the video with my 88-year-old parents who could possibly vote for Franken. Unfortunately they would t be able to enjoy a subscription, but this is a good antidote to Fox News!
Loved this column, and especially loved reading how Franken responded to Rand Paul! I posted an "I believe Michael Franken can defeat Charles Grassley" yard sign a week ago along our two-lane county blacktop.
Wow, Julie: What a GREAT and encouraging column (plus, so glad you sent that video that highlights such extraordinary differences between the experience level of most of today's political candidates vs the Admiral's experience level.)
I particularly liked your salient and important comment that: ..."if there’s something outrageous, nasty, or titillating to cover, it will get a lot more clicks than the nuances of how Dubuque lost daily air service by American Airlines" and your notes on the bi-partisan efforts required around Dubuque’s bridges and highway construction - especially with Iowa now topping the nation as the state with the most poorly kept bridge infrastructure! (Talk about a zinger moment for our state...)
But zinger on top of zinger: Senator Grassley's comment on Fox News (“I don’t know what’s going on in Iowa,”) and the Admiral's Tweet to Paul are literally PRICELESS!
Despite following Franken's campaigning since the last time he ran -because I ALWAYS LEARN something from him- - I would have missed these terrific items were it not for your Potluck post, Julie!
So thanks! And if my new job ever allows me to join a mid-day Potluck zoom again, I will be there with bells on!

Thanks, Loretta.

Over lunch on October 20 I predicted Franken would win. That uphill prediction is less steep now. I think he still has time.
Donald Trump, Mike Pence, Ted Cruz and Kristi Noem have campaigned for Republicans in Arizona. I wish they stayed home.
I watched Robert Costa's interview of Mike Franken tonight.

You can share it, Susan, without a subscription. If youn have trouble, and they have an email address, I’ll send it to them, if you want me to.
I really hope so. This brought tears to my eyes. Protect our children now!!!!
Oh, I so hope Adm. Franken wins!!!!! Fingers crossed. Another great column, Julie.
