Laughed all the way through! Another plus for Arizona. They refuse to do it at all, so no confusion, except when it comes to having a zoom cocktail hour with Julie and Richard when they're in Florida there's a three hour difference.

Response from Ken Quinn:

Hey Julie and Richard,

Thanks for inspiring a brief trip down memory lane. My recollection of the debate is from the late 50s and early 60s when local option was in effect for daylight saving time. So in Dubuque city, where I lived, we followed DST and set our clocks ahead, while in Dubuque County they remained on standard time. So when you drove 10 or 15 minutes out of town to Peosta or Epworth or Farley, you had to reset your watch, either literally or at least figuratively in your head. You also had to figure out which time the railroad was using in Iowa and, since the main depot for trips to Chicago was across the Mississippi in East Dubuque, in Illinois. Of course, if you drove across the river on the north end bridge you entered Wisconsin, which could be on a different time from Illinois and Dubuque city.

The strongest argument at the time to remain on standard time came from Dubuque County residents who stressed that DST would badly disorient the cows, whose milking schedules would be thrown off.

Hey, the clocks on the microwave and car are now accurate. At least until fall.
