They lied. They cheated. They won.
During confirmation hearings, two Trump-appointed members of the Supreme Court said Roe was ‘settled law.’
They lied.
They [Grassley and Ernst among them] said Obama’s appointment was too soon before the election, then the Trump-appointed nominee - offered days before the election - MUST be appointed [Grassley and Ernst among them']. They cheated.
For fifty years, women had the Constitutional right to decide their reproductive health. Note: ‘had’ - the past tense.
They won.

They lied (about Roe v Wade being the law of the land and they would always support the law of the land), they cheated (refusing to bring Merrick Garland's nomination to the floor for a vote), and they won by outright stealing a seat with the Amy Coney Barrett nomination. That is the legacy of the republican party and this court. The way to change all of this - STOP.VOTING.FOR.REPUBLICANS. Your vote matters. Elections have consequences. Please vote in November.
Of course it matters. For the first time in the 235-year history of the United States Constitution, the Supreme Court has taken away from American citizens a constitutional right. As Justice Clarence Thomas warned in writing, all of the other individual rights that flow from the fundamental right to privacy are also threatened. It also needs to be pointed out that Senator Chuck Grassley is personally responsible for the overturning of Roe v. Wade. The decision to overturn Roe was a 5 to 4 decision. If Grassley had not personally blocked Merrick Garland from joining the Supreme Court, Roe would not have been overturned. Grassley owns this decision. He needs to be held responsible this November for that decision.
Grassley also needs to own the fact that Justice Amy Coney Barrett, Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and Justice Neil Gorsuch lied during their Senate confirmation hearing. He was instrumental in their confirmations. Given who nominated them, perhaps we should not be too surprised that they are liars.
