Good information. Thank you.

But this phrase "plus his brilliant Secretary of Transportation" really seemed out of place. Great political personality and Wall Street backing doesn't make him brilliant but we can hope.

That green live would have really made a significant difference for me. For the last 30 years I have put around a quarter of a million miles driving between Klamath Falls and Portland. That five hour trip by car takes eight(sometimes twelve) hours by train and the train only runs once a day. I would ride that often. I will write Pete and start pushing for a senior discount. Thanks for bringing this to us Julie

I've never even been on the Acela!

I'm pretty sure I have not been on a high speed train because I was only seven when I did it. We had to go to Omaha to take the train and then head out to Northwest Nebraska to see family. It was so exciting sleeping in this train for a 7-year-old girl on her first trip away from home. I would love to be able to travel many places by train ❤️

Being an American over 60 means most likely having a wonderful train story while those under 60 likely have none and are poorer for it. We need to fix that! Thanks Julie.

Yes, I am imagining and dreaming, too! The technology is there. It just takes the will and drive. I am on board. Thanks for compiling positive talking points. And lighting the torch. (To mix a few metaphors.)

This is such exciting news. We have traveled on the Acela from Penn Station to Union Station and back again many times. It is a nice option to have even though the ride is bumpy, but for us, beats the drive every time. I have traveled from Union Station to Williamsburg VA to visit my brother and his family. Again, bumpy, but beats the drive in every way because you can just sit and stare out the window and soak up the view. We have traveled on the high speed trains in China and Japan and it was like riding on a cloud! The train system that runs across Europe is a lovely way to get from one country to another as well as having the opportunity to soak in the beautiful countryside. Agatha Christie said "Trains are wonderful.......To travel by train is to see nature and human beings, towns and churches and rivers, in fact, to see life." Yeah!!
