J. Ann Selzer has graciously agreed to be our guest for today’s Monday Zoom Lunch call.
The Iowa Poll has been a reliable predictor of voter sentiment for decades. The poll is considered one of the most influential in American politics because of its long history of accuracy. Pollster Selzer makes it her mission to look forward, not backward, when designing her methods; in other words, just because XX people attended a caucus last presidential cycle, it does not portend what will happen in a future caucus. And that’s why her results are often more meaningful than just a real-time snapshot.
Selzer has conducted the Iowa Poll for The Des Moines Register since 1987. Most recently, the newspaper ran the results of voter sentiment on various topics, with some surprising results.
We’ll look at the Iowa Poll and compare trends in the Grinnell Poll she conducted.

In regards to the Iowa Poll, I wonder how it is affected by the overflow of spam calls people get now days. I, for one, screen my calls so I wouldn't even answer if, what claimed to be a poll called. Wouldn't that affect the results?
