I just published my first note on Substack Notes, and would love for you to join me there.
I often run across small newsy items that don’t fit a full length column, but do have reader interest. Substack Notes seems like a place to post them.
In my opinion, Twitter has become unrecognizable since Elon Musk took over. I’m getting Tweets in my feed I have no interest in receiving, from people I do not follow, thus diluting the value and wasting time.
There are pros and cons to all social media platforms, but Substack seems to get it right, placing top priority on the reader and writer experience. There are enough people willing to become paid subscribers (Substack takes a small cut) that the model is not reliant on advertising revenue.
The Notes feature, announced today, makes sense.
Tomorrow, I’ll be posting a full column by a guest author on the anniversary of the passage of Title IX. And, in a separate Substack NOTE, I’ll post a few photos from the Belin house party.
Let me know what you think of this, if you have time to drop a note. I’m curious.
Notes is a new space on Substack for us to share links, short posts, quotes, photos, and more. I plan to use it for things that don’t fit in the newsletter, like work-in-progress or quick questions.
How to join
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app. As a subscriber to Julie Gammack's Iowa Potluck , you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around!
You can also share notes of your own. I hope this becomes a space where every reader of Julie Gammack's Iowa Potluck can share thoughts, ideas, and interesting quotes from the things we're reading on Substack and beyond.
If you encounter any issues, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Substack is great! Twitter is NOT.
