START SPREADING THE WORD…
The legendary singer, Marilyn Maye, will be our Monday Zoom Lunch guest on July 24, starting at noon central time.
Since I wrote a column about attending a performance by Maye last summer - GAMMACK - she not only hasn’t slowed down, her career has soared to new heights.
Kyle Gibson wrote to me about her family’s long-standing relationship with the singer, saying: I want to make sure you know all about Marilyn Maye in New York…her astonishing, still-happening renaissance, her wildly adoring fans, and her phenomenal show at Carnegie Hall in late March--sold out, (4000 seats), earning 12 standing ovations.
Marilyn Maye has been performing in the Okoboji Lakes area since 1956. Don’t let that 70-year timeline fool you regarding her age. Fans still follow her around the country.
Memorable is a word that encapsulates the MM experience.
Her first show scheduled for this season was a quick sell-out, but tickets remain for the August 2 performance, to be held in the beautiful theater of the Pearson Lakes Art Center. Grab ‘em while you can: TICKETS.
OKOBOJI
Speaking of Okoboji, we have a few spots left for the Okoboji Writers’ Retreat. The event has been a sell-out each year and is expected to do so again. We have even more speakers this year, including three publishers, international writers, former New York Times and Washington Post opinion writers, authors, newspaper columnists, memoirists, CBS News producer, editors, poets, and so much more. Wherever you see yourself on the writing scale - beginner to published professional - you will find it a rewarding experience and a lot of fun. LEARN MORE. September 17-20.
