Mary Riche talks about what is at stake with IVF in the current political climate
...and what it means to prospective parents dealing with infertility
Today’s Zoom Link (noon central to 1:15 p.m.) https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88692725567
Our Monday Zoom lunch guest today is retired therapist Mary Riche. When she was in practice, she worked with individuals and couples facing infertility issues and treatment. In other words, she can make the political issue real and well beyond a talking point.
If you are a new subscriber, here’s what we do around here. I regularly hold a one-hour conversation over Zoom with subscribers to this column and a featured guest. The discussions are informal and more like what might take place around a potluck dinner gathering than a recording studio. I’ll spend the first part of our time with the guest asking questions, then invite participants to take over. You will find the audience bright, engaging, and informed.
Last Monday, we discussed the potential demise of Byron’s, a popular live music venue in the 500-person town of Pomeroy, and a concert held last night in Fort Dodge to save it.
The conversations are recorded and uploaded in podcast form, available for download.
I do not post the link publicly other than in this space, which goes only to subscribers. You may share it with someone interested in the issue, but please don’t post it on the internet otherwise. So far, I’ve only had one streaker show up uninvited, and I’d like to keep it that way.

Yesterday’s Roundup is below. Be sure to read Mary Swander’s Loom column. This extraordinary, creative writer, author, playwright, and founder of Ag Arts, lives near the Amish community in Kalona. The detail she uses to describe their lives and culture is used with respect and offers a rare view of their cloistered lives.
