If you haven’t caught up with her new column, this powerhouse from Sioux Center gives readers a glimpse of the good and the not-so-good aspects of living in small-town America.
Check out this week’s column, Friday Night Lights.
Kali White VanBaale
I first met Kali this year when she introduced and interviewed author Grant Faulkner, director of the National Novel WritersMonth (NaNoWriMo), when he was in town for a book signing at Beaverdale Books. She was impressive.
The next time I saw her was when she came to our rescue to pitch in for a memoir writer coach during the last Okoboji Writers’ Retreat. She was terrific and will be returning in 2024 for OWR IV.
Today, I am thrilled to introduce you to Kali White VanBaale as our newest Iowa Writers’ Collaborative Member. The topic she is choosing to focus on is mental healthcare in Iowa. She explains why this is so important to her, and to all of us, in her inaugural column:
If you do not subscribe to the Iowa Writers’ Collaborative, look at the Sunday roundup of columns this past week to see what you missed: Iowa politics, sports, restaurant reviews, family life, a holocaust survivor, what it’s like to be at the bedside of someone in the Amish community as they take their last breath, road trip suggestions, and beautiful fall photographs await.
The Iowa Writers’ Collaborative connects readers to writers interested in Iowa and beyond.
SAVE THE DATE: THURSDAY, DECEMBER 7; PAID SUBSCRIBERS ARE INVITED TO A HOLIDAY PARTY AT THE WITMER HOUSE, 2900 GRAND (former governor’s mansion). Let us know if you would like to attend:
