Dan Hunter is our Monday Zoom guest
...comedian, Iowan, musician, author, playwright and friend to many of us
Dan Hunter is our Monday Zoom Lunch guest from noon to 1:15 p.m. He’s a musician, playwright, comedian, entrepreneur, AND former Iowan.
Dan and I have a lot of catching up to do. We haven’t seen each other since he played guitar and sang one of my favorite songs of his at my 40th birthday gathering. “South of Grand Avenue” (AV-Ah-NEW) is a satirical musical spoof of the neighborhood where we both grew up, and it was often requested when he played at many Des Moines venues. Another favorite Hunter song, ‘Walking Beans,’ became a sing-a-long tune in town. We miss Dan around these parts.
Dan tells me his mother lives in their family home on Terrace Road, directly south of Terrace Hill. So he gets back to here once in a while.
But I digress.
I put a query on Facebook asking if anyone knew of someone with expertise on what is today called ‘Flow State’ —that inexplicable phenomenon also known as being ‘in the zone.’ I’ve recently heard it used by business executives in the context of how to create ways for employees who supercharge their productivity when an employee can tap into a flow state.
Dan answered my post. He is developing a testing mechanism to measure a child’s creative abilities, often unleashed in this flow state. I’m eager to find out how one tests that seemingly ethereal experience. Let’s find out together.
If you, too, want to catch up with Dan Hunter and join our Zoom Monday lunch date, become a paid subscriber. Proceeds benefit the Okoboji Writers’ Retreat scholarship fund. Paid subscribers will receive a link to our Zoom ‘lunch’ date held most Mondays from noon to 1:15 p.m. central time.
